Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 vs 1000 Plus: the expandable one or the cheaper one
Two Jackerys one word apart, holding near enough the same battery, except that one of them takes add-on packs and the other cannot. Which you want comes down to whether you will ever buy the pack.
Buy the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 unless you expect to add a battery, in which case the Jackery Explorer 1000 Plus (JE-1000C) is the box built for it, with the caveat that we found no verified listing for the bare unit and so cannot tell you what it costs. Both land on the same verdict against this plan, Clears the best case only: each covers an efficient fridge in a cool kitchen for 8 hours, and neither covers a hard-working one without a refill partway through. The Jackery Explorer 2000 v2 is the step up if a full day is the target, and it has a verified listing at $899. Nothing on this page changes the start, because all three clear the top of this plan's surge.
The Amazon links on this page are affiliate links: if you buy through one we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. It does not change which units are picked. How that works.

Who this is for
You are looking at two boxes whose names differ by one word, on the same shelf, for the same job: one refrigerator carried through a working-day outage of 8 hours that ends before bedtime. The question here is whether the expandable one earns the step up, and what you gain from it if you never buy a pack.
Side by side, from the makers’ own documents
“Not listed by the maker” means the maker pages we read do not state it. It is not a zero, and we never fill it from a sibling model. “No verified listing” means no Amazon listing for the bare unit matched the bare unit by name, battery and output yet.
| Model | Battery | Continuous output | Peak output | Weight | Solar input | Expandable | Warranty | Chemistry | Verified listing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 | 1,070 Wh | 1,500 W | 3,000 W | 24 lb (10.8 kg) | 400 W | No add-on battery pack option available | 3-year warranty, extendable to 5 years total | LiFePO4 | $499 |
| Jackery Explorer 1000 Plus (JE-1000C) | 1,265 Wh | 2,000 W | 4,000 W | 32 lb (14.5 kg) | 800 W | Up to 3 extra batteries, about 5,056 Wh total | 3-year warranty, extendable to 5 years free with registration | LiFePO4 | no verified listing |
Jackery Explorer 2000 v2 | 2,042 Wh | 2,200 W | 4,400 W | 39 lb (17.9 kg) | 400 W | Not expandable; no add-on battery pack option | 3-year warranty, extendable to 5 years total | LiFePO4 | $899 |
Against the same plan
A refrigerator for an 8-hour working-day outage, sized on the harder end of every range.
Almost all of this plan is one compressor. Running, a fridge sits between 100 and 700 watts, which none of these boxes notices. The test is the instant the motor starts and pulls several times that for a fraction of a second, from 600 to 2,900 watts, and a station's peak rating is its only headroom then. All three Jackerys cover the top of that range, so the start decides nothing here.
The energy side is a range too. An efficient fridge in a cool kitchen cycles about a fifth of the time and wants 160 watt-hours; an old one in a warm kitchen, opened all day, runs half the time and wants 2,800. Jackery publishes no usable figure, so the site sizes from a conservative share of nameplate, 910 of the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2's 1,070. Of 73 units checked, 60 cover the easy end and 8 the hard one, none of them here.
| Model | Covers the energy | Carries the running load | Clears the surge | Typical day | Verdict |

Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 | best case only | worst case | Refrigerator/freezer: starts it | one charge | Clears the best case only |

Where the energy goes, load by load
| Load | Hours | Running watts | Duty cycle | Energy | Share of worst case |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Refrigerator/freezer | 8 | 100–700 | 20–50% | 160–2,800 Wh | 100% |
Energy = running watts × duty cycle × hours, at each end of the range. The right-hand end of every row is what the plan is sized on.

The Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 is the one with a verified listing behind it at $499, and the lighter body of the pair. It reads Clears the best case only against this plan exactly as the other two do, so the extra battery above it buys longer, not different. What you give up is growth: Jackery states plainly that there is no add-on pack for this model, so what arrives is what you will always have.
Our rule: the cheapest unit that covers a typical day of this plan (670 Wh).
One charge covers a typical day of this plan (about 670 Wh). A hard-working refrigerator/freezer may need up to about 2,800 Wh.
Price as of October 3, 2026; the listing we verified as the bare unit.
A refrigerator for an 8-hour working-day outage:

- Starting surgeRefrigerator/freezer: starts it
What you give up: Expansion, entirely. The maker says there is no pack for this model, so its capacity is fixed on the day it arrives.

The expandable one

The Jackery Explorer 1000 Plus (JE-1000C) is the only box here with a dedicated port for add-on battery packs, and it backs that up with more battery than the Explorer 1000 v2, more continuous and peak output, and twice the solar input. The catch is the one that bites at checkout: we found no verified listing for the bare unit, only bundles and near-namesakes, so this page will not quote a price for it. It suits someone buying the first piece of a system rather than a single box, and willing to go to Jackery's own channels to find out what it costs.
No Amazon listing for the bare unit has matched the bare unit by name, battery and output, so this page has no price or buy link for it.

The step up

The Jackery Explorer 2000 v2 nearly doubles the battery of the Explorer 1000 v2 and lifts the output again, and it has a verified listing at $899, which the Explorer 1000 Plus (JE-1000C) does not. It is not expandable either, since Jackery points buyers who want that to a separate line, so it is the answer when you would rather buy the capacity once than add to it later. It still reads Clears the best case only against this plan, which is the honest limit of what more battery buys here: a longer best case, not a different verdict.

Buying it right
A search for these models returns bundles, sibling models and the same unit under two prices. We link only a listing whose own title states the bare unit with its exact battery and output. Match the model number on the label to this page. How we check a listing.
- Jackery Explorer 1000 v2: we link the bare unit, checked October 3, 2026. We turned down 9 other listings (bundles, sibling models, repeats); see which and why.
- Jackery Explorer 1000 Plus (JE-1000C): no Amazon listing passed our check, so there is no Amazon link. What we turned down.

What this page can’t promise
This page cannot tell you where your own kitchen sits in that fridge range, and that is the question deciding whether any of the three is enough. It cannot price the Jackery Explorer 1000 Plus (JE-1000C) either, because no verified listing for the bare unit exists in our data.
Nothing here was tested by us. The spec figures are Jackery's own; what reviewers found is labelled as theirs, and a single report is flagged as one. Where a marketing page and the spec table behind it disagree, and Jackery's do on charging, we say so rather than quote the better number. One figure in the Explorer 1000 Plus (JE-1000C) manual we could not confirm.
Questions people ask
Can the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 take an expansion battery?
No. Jackery states the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 has no add-on pack, so its capacity is fixed for the life of the unit. The Jackery Explorer 1000 Plus (JE-1000C) is the expandable one of the pair: it has a dedicated port and a maker-documented path to three more packs of about its own size. The table above shows which of the three carries an expansion route and which does not, taken from the makers' own documents rather than from listings.
Is the 1000 Plus actually worth it over the 1000 v2?
Only if you will really buy a pack, or want the higher output for something other than this fridge. Against this plan both read Clears the best case only, so for one refrigerator across 8 hours the Plus buys a little more battery and more headroom, not a different answer. We also cannot show you the gap in money, because no verified listing for the bare Plus exists in our data. If growth is not the plan, the cheaper box does the same job.
How long does one of these take to charge from a wall socket?
That depends which Jackery page you read. For the Explorer 1000 v2, the marketing copy, the spec table on the same page and the FAQ each give a different figure, and two independent testers measured two more; the quickest of them needed an emergency mode enabled by hand, which one reviewer warned against using routinely. The Explorer 2000 v2 has the same spread across its own pages and was measured slower again. For the Explorer 1000 Plus (JE-1000C), no wall-charge time appears on the maker pages we read.
The names are almost identical, so how do I make sure I get the right box?
Match the part number, not the name. The listing we verified for the Explorer 1000 v2 carries JE-1000D; the Plus is JE-1000C, as its full model name shows. They are separate model families with different specifications, not two trims of one product. Check as well that you are looking at the bare station: most of the listings we rejected while building this page were solar bundles or cable kits whose titles read almost exactly like the plain unit.
Why is there no price for the 1000 Plus?
Because we could not verify one. The listing check looks for a bare station matching our spec record, and for the Jackery Explorer 1000 Plus (JE-1000C) every candidate was a solar bundle, a cable kit or a different model wearing a similar name, so the price stays empty rather than carry a bundle's number. The Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 and the Jackery Explorer 2000 v2 both cleared that check, which is why they show $499 and $899.
